Elder + Amethyst Goat Milk Soap

I created this incredibly special limited edition soap last year as a celebration of my 40th birthday.  It was cherished by so many who got the chance to try it so I figured it should become an annual thing!   I wanted to go all out and make something really special, something extremely luxurious, steeped with beauty, mythology and lore, herbs, and intentions.  Because I deserve this soap, and so do you.

As always this soap is crafted with 100% raw goat milk from my own beautiful herd of goats. The oils are solar infused in the midwinter sun with elderflowers and each soap is topped with amethysts (my birthstone). This soap contains a trio of rich butters as well as a blend of skin loving oils for an extremely creamy lather.  The essential oils I chose for this soap are an intoxicating brew of Palo Santo, Cardamom, Amyris, Black Pepper, Palmarosa, Cypress, and Ylang Ylang.

I wanted the colours to create a dreamy nod to the late morning sunrise hues visible across the horizon in the winter, brushing the treetops and casting the snow with shades of pink, indigo, and purple which I crafted through infusions of madder root, alkanet, indigo, and charcoal.

About the ingredients
The Elder is said to be the home of of the spirit of the Elda Mor (Hylde-Moer), the Elder Mother, who lives within the tree and can offer protection as well as harm. Scandinavian folklore told that whosoever slept under an elder tree on Midsummer’s Eve would be whisked away to the land of the faeries and may even catch a glimpse of the faerie king himself. The beautiful clusters of fine white flowers have woven themselves into our lives over thousands of years through function and lore.

Amethyst is my birthstone so I have always been drawn to the soft purples and lavender hues of this glowing amulet, even more so now in my chaotic life of small children, running a farm and a small business during a pandemic.  I am always seeking out things that are calming, grounding, and comforting.

Remove your amethyst before use and place it somewhere you would like to be feel a sense of calm.
