The Northern Lights, called Norðurljós in Icelandic have always captured the hearts and imaginations of people who see them. They bring with them stories of elves, spirits of long departed ancestors, and fire foxes swiftly swishing their tails across the night sky leaving a trail of sparks. they carry omens (good and bad depending on who you ask).
I live in a wonderful piece of the woods where it is dark and the night sky twinkles brilliantly with all the stars in the milky way. Over the past couple years I've been privileged to see more Aurora Borealis than I can remember seeing the whole rest of my life. In fact the picture that is the cover of this reel was taken just last night, the sheep and the goats seemed to be just as captivated as I was by the colourful dancing sky.
This soap was designed to capture the inky darkness of the night sky and the silhouetted conifers against the streaks of light flashing through the crisp air, suddenly disappearing as quickly as they arrived.
I made this soap with a blend of goats milk and a distillation of lemon scented geranium blended with a crisp, clear balance of herbal and citrus essential oils. The colors were crafted with a rainbow of botanicals including indigo, Himalayan rhubarb, madder root, annatto seed, and activated charcoal. The blend of rich butters, oils, and milk make this soap creamy, gentle, and perfect for sensitive skin.
