This soap began a year ago, when, as the Oak kings power started to wane and the Holly King took over a howling wind blew a snow storm through our forest. The kind with fat flakes that make it seem like the sky is falling. I collected bowls of fresh fallen snow as it fell and distilled it to produce the soap I would use to represent the falling snowflakes in this bar. The base of the bar being made with mineral rich, nourishing goat milk from our own boreal herd of woodland goats. Fuzzy with their winter coats once again.
Layers of deepening indigo serves as the backdrop for the snowfall like an all too early dusk on these short winter days.
Scented with a magical essential oil blend of Cedarwood, Frankincense, Myrrh, Bergamot, and Sweet Orange.
The battle for light and dark, abundance and scarcity, warmth and cold plays out between two Kings; the Oak King and the Holly King. A personification of the seasons.
During the height of Midsummer the Oak King is at the height of his power, bringing birth, crop renewal and growth. As his power wanes the battle shifts power and the oak king finally yields to the Holly King with a turn inward into darkness, and rest.
